How Hunter R. got a playable NES ROM into a N64 Controller Pak

In 2001, Nintendo gave away 30 exclusive Controller Paks that had Ice Climber for the NES on them. When you popped it into your Nintendo 64 while playing Dōbutsu no Mori (the Japanese version of Animal Crossing), you could actually play the game via an in-built emulator.

Hunter R. didn’t like his odds of getting one so instead he made his own. The above video is a succinct but comprehensive walkthrough of his endeavours and it’s really interesting how it all worked and the routes he took to get the ROM onto the Controller Pak, which could only hold 32KB of data.
