The Anbernic RG 40XXV is a handheld game console developed by Anbernic, released worldwide on 26th August 2024.
Anbernic developed the RG 40XXV with a vertical form factor similar to the Game Boy DMG and it came in three colours: White, Transparent Black, and Indigo Blue. It also comes with a 4.0-inch IPS screen, a H700 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, and 1GB of DDR4 RAM.
The console has been well received for its form factor and larger screen and ability to play up to 32-bit systems (roughly the fifth generation era including N64 and PS1) although some critics felt the RG 40XXV didn’t offer more than previous consoles.
Retro Game Corps chose his favourite handhelds for each retro system (as of 2025), following up the same video he did last year. No context spoiler alert: the Anbernic RG 40XXV and Lenovo Legion Go S both got a mention!
