Nintendo Direct June 2024: stream and highlights

If you’re reading this, the live stream of the Nintendo Direct for June 2024 is already over but you can watch it above and get excited for over 30 new games. I’ll be honest and say I’m not especially hyped for any of the games in this list BUT objectively, there are some decent titles in here and I’m sure their respective fan bases will be excited.

Here are some highlights:

Mario

  • We’re getting a new Mario & Luigi RPG—the first in 9 years—and it’s called Mario & Luigi: Brothership
  • A new Mario Party game called Super Mario Party Jamboree

The Legend of Zelda

  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Four Swords is coming to Switch via the GBA expansion
  • We’re getting a new Zelda game… that has Zelda as the main character. It’s called The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and it kinda reminds me of Dragon Quest Builders (compliment)

Metroid

Dragon Quest

  • Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is coming out on 14th November 2025
  • Dragon Quest I+II will also get the HD-2D treatment, also releasing in 2025

Other titles

  • Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Arcade Classics is coming to the Switch, including seven titles, such as X-Men Children of the Atom and Marvel vs. Capcom
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns is getting the HD treatment
  • Fantasian is coming to the Switch
  • Perfect Dark is coming to the Switch today (as part of the N64 expansion), with online multiplayer functionality!
  • Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is another of the N64 titles
  • There’ll be a re-release of Ace Attorney Investigations

And to all the disappointed Pokémon fans out there, I have this to say: suck it up. We already get Pokémon Presents and you can’t expect Game Freak to make better games by taking their time but also announcing new stuff at every conceivable opportunity. If you’re bored, play an older title or play a different one. The Nintendo world doesn’t revolve around Pokémon.
