Nintendo announce the return of the Golden Sun series to its Nintendo Switch Online service

Like an RKO outta nowhere, Nintendo announced the return of the Golden Sun series to its Nintendo Switch Online service.

The first two Golden Sun games, Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001 and 2002, respectively. But other than a Nintendo DS sequel, 2010’s Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, fans have been waiting for any kind of re-release or remake. This news should please fans (including yours truly) and keep the rumour mill going for a new/remade game(s) in the future.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. What we are getting is two iconic JRPGs from the early 00s, available for old fans and hopefully new fans too. I reckon if we all played it enough, that could show Nintendo just how loved the series is and lay a fruitful foundation.

Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age will be available to play on Nintendo Switch for Switch Online + Expansion Pack members on 17th January.
