Video game music, or VGM, is a term used to describe the music used on video games. This genre has inspired many musicians in a variety of other genres, most notably hip hop and electronic music.
Originally, VGM comprised of short tunes made from programmable sound generators or FM synthesis chips. But as the video game technology advance, more composers started including more complex melodies into their games and the genre began to blossom.
