Justin Colegrove makes rugs. Amazing gaming rugs, to be exact. The other day, I found one of his Instagram reels showing the making of his Pokémon Green cartridge rug. He’d already done the other Gen 1 carts and Green was next. According to the reel, it cost about $150 in materials and 4 days to make, hence the price.
I’ve been seeing a lot of indie gaming rug makers at the moment and knowing how much time and effort they put into making them puts the cost into perspective. They’re not expensive, we just aren’t paid nearly enough to be able to afford them in larger quantities as a society and help these creatives flourish more.
