Everything You Need to Know About ‘Super Smash Bros. For Wii U’ (Video)

Those of you dying to play Super Smash Bros. for Wii U when it drops Nov. 21, I am just going to apologize to you (and myself, really) right now. Why? Because once you watch this video showcasing everything in the game, your anticipation level is going to shoot through the roof. Nintendo just finished up their live stream that they called the 50-Fact Extravaganza, a reference to how they planned on revealing 50 things about the latest entry in their flagship fighting series. Well, here’s the thing: They actually revealed more than 50 facts, but I’m just being nit-picky.

As for what they disclosed about the new SSB, here are some of the key items:

  • There are more than 40 (!) characters available at the start
  • There is an eight-player mode (for offline play only)
  • The create-a-stage feature is more expansive than the version in Super Smash Bros.: Brawl and you can share your stages online
  • Bowser Jr. and all of his minions are playable characters
  • Mewtwo (from Pokemon) is coming to the game in the spring
  • There will be online tournaments (not ready for launch, though)
  • There is a new storyboard mode that looks pretty damn interesting and similar to Mario Party
  • There is a new Masterpiece mode, which is basically a hub of demos for games featuring characters from SSB
  • There are more trophies than ever and a mode where you can stage them and take photos
  • You can take photos during matches and then draw all over them using the Gamepad
  • There are so many stages that I lost track, including some with front-and-back platforms for fighting (think Donkey Kong Country)

There is, of course, a whole lot more that you can (and should!) learn from watching the video for yourself. Personally, I’m now just wishing that the game was in my possession right now, but I know I’m not alone in feeling that way, hah. I just need to figure out who I want to use. Will I stick with Mario or try someone else? Hmm.
