I love all these “new” unreleased games being unearthed or otherwise released years after they started. For this example, a PS1 game called Magic Castle, it was completed after 22 years.
Development of Magic Castle started in 1998 and after working on it for 8 months, the team of Japanese developers started pitching it to big names like Sony. Alas, nobody was interested and it was discarded. Until recently.
A member of the original team found the source code and decided to resurrect the Magic Castle project using emulators.
The good news is you download and play Magic Castle by heading to Net Yaroze Europe‘s website and there’s also an interview with 2 of the developers who give some insight into the process and how one of their pitches with a major publisher almost happened.
