Shout out to the Distant Arcade OG Andrew Martin for putting me onto this. Thoto_Leing is a producer from the school of Samiyam and Flying Lotus—heavy off-kilter drums, waveform synths, and a penchant for swing. Termina is his second release and, as you might have guessed, is heavily inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. But there’s more to it than a video game theme:
“An audio representation and tribute to a tale about the descent into madness and the five stages of grief.” – Thoto_Leing
[…] an eclectic tipping of a hat (or mask) to a more nostalgic time of lessons learned through unforeseen mentors and mediums.
Every track is a killer as it traverses through those five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargain, depression, and acceptance. Album sales are helping Thoto buy better gear for his streaming and music exploits so dig deep if you can.
