Wolfe's Sinistcha team got a Top 8 finish in a 500-person tournament

Last weekend, Wolfe Glick competed in a 500-person online tournament featuring Regulation E Pokémon and he finished in the Top 8 with a team featuring Sinistcha. You can watch his journey in the videos above and see how this unique combination of Pokémon made it through 11 matches thanks to that classic World Champ Difference.

The rental code is only available to Patreon subscribers (I’m not one… yet?) but I can list out the Pokémon used:

  • Snorlax
  • Sinistcha
  • Iron Hands
  • Clefairy
  • Landorus
  • Kommo-o

To think that this is probably the first time anyone has made this team in the history of Pokémon and it top cut a huge online tournament shows why Wolfe is one of the greatest of all time. I’m sure variations of this team are all over the ladder and it has certainly inspired me to try out the Matcha Pokémon.

My journey through VGC since playing in Sword and Shield has been very up and down, especially the last couple of months where I’ve just not played and felt burnout (Wolfe spoke candidly about similar feelings in his Day 1 video). Watching this really helped with finding more enjoyment in VGC and playing for fun rather than focusing purely on winning and feeling bad about losing. One of the highlights—besides the Top 8 finish—has to be hearing Wolfe constantly say “Pi-pi!” throughout the videos.
