AI in gaming can be used to create non-player characters (or NPCs) or more advanced in-game opponents (think Player vs. CPU in fighting games or what makes Cynthia so hard to beat in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum). Outside that, people have used AI to programmatically play and beat games, similar to tool-assisted speedruns.
