I found this video of PeteDorr playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at Christmas in 1994, on his new SEGA Genesis, and it sent me back to my own childhood. Except it was 1993 and I didn’t have a SEGA Genesis. No, both Sonic 2 and the console belonged to my cousins in Orlando, Florida. I was visiting for Christmas and I saw them unwrap their new toys and while I knew I’d never get anything like that, I was super excited to watch and play these exclusive games, even for a few minutes. It was the most fun I’d ever had at Christmas at the time (until another Christmas in Florida in the future).
